Corinthian Casuals Youth v Raynes Park Vale Youth
Wed 31st October
The Youth turned in a real Halloween performance that
was a nightmare from start to finish against possibly the weakest team that we had played. After wins versus Leatherhead and
Woking, it was an
after the Lord Mayors show performance.
Daramola failed to turn up altogether and when the
game started Tuppen, playing out of position, had a torrid first half and his mistake led to us falling behind after 2 minutes.
Agyei was also finding the going tough and it was to get even worse when Hennessy was withdrawn with injury after 25.
It appeared to be one of those games where no one really covered themselves with glory. Somehow we were only 1-0 down at half
time, how I have no idea.
The 2nd half saw us come out firing and Brayne (twice),
Tchonang and Parker should have put us out of sight, we also saw Thompson’s goal be ruled out by an offside poacher. After
failing to take any of our chances we fell 2-0 down and it was here that we lost all shape, discipline and responsibility
that saw us capitulate into nothing more than a Sunday side. The final score was 4-0 and we really let ourselves down with
an absolute stinker of a performance. Man of the Match went to Liam Roche because he was the only player to stick to
his own job and tried to do it.
Raynes Park Vale Youth v Woking Whites Youth
Monday 22nd October
Raynes Park Vale and Woking FC competed for the right to remain as the only unbeaten side in the league
last night at Grand Drive and it was Vale who stole the honours from their full time academy opponents with a deserved 2-0
win.
Woking won the opening exchanges as Vale started slowly and they won the possession percentage comfortably.
Vale didnt help themselves by defending very deep and Woking passed the ball neatly and kept possession well, they were technically
a very good side.
Vale started to grow in belief and crept further into the game, beginning to match Woking in all departments,
in the first half Adam Skinner made 3 superb saves, one at point blank range from a cross that should never have been allowed
into our box. As half time edged nearer Vale took a 39th minute lead. Hennessy ran onto a delightful throughball from Jon
Fagan and finished with finesse, it really was a superb gooal past an excellent keeper. There was still time for Skinner to
make his wonder save before half time.
If we were slightly lucky to have the half time lead, the same could not be said come fulltime. Vale defended
resolutely and created the better chances and ran out cosy 2-0 winners. Wellman was denied twice by the keeper when he forced
good saves and the Vale defence handled what was thrown at them well as the midfield played a more pressing tempo in front
of the back four. There were spirited performances all over the pitch from Vale, none more so than the livewire Daramola who
even outworked the ever impressive Thompson in the heart of the team, these two have built a very impressive partnership in
the centre over the last two games and I encourage them to keep working at it. None of the Vale team looked out of place against
their conference academy counterparts. The game was put to bed by a goal of the season contender, Fagan received payback for
assisting Hennessy in the 1st half as Hennessy laid a neat set to him, Jon did no more than bend the ball into the top far
corner from 25 yards, it was a dream goal, one fiiting of the match. Vale then pressed further and soaked up anything that
was hurled their way.
It is becoming more apparent by the game that we have a very talented group here, there is still a long
way to go with their development but if we can keep them interested and improving for the next 2 seasons then who knows where
they may be playing. Well done boys, you have done the club and yourselves proud again.

Roche, Hagan, Couch, Turner, Daramola, Oarker, Thompson (Wiltshire 83), Wellman (Amodu 70), Hennessy (Rondeau 80), Fagan.

Raynes Park Vale Youth v Leatherhead Youth
Monday 15th October
The youth team came up against Ryman opposition in the Floodlit Cup at Grand Drive last night and bounced back to winning
ways with a robust performance that saw them totally outplay their opposition.
As early as the 7th minute Vale were to lead, Wellman was pulled down on the edge of the box after a dogged run and Jamie
Parker bent the free kick into the top far corner over Leatherheads rather small keeper. There were few chances and the next
chance saw Vale double their lead from a corner. Thompson swung it in, it was only half cleared and Parker thundered his 2nd
into the roof of the net.
Five minutes later Leatherhead reduced the deficit from a free kick that was bent into the bottom corner of Skinners
net. A rather undeserved goal from our point of view. It remained at 2-1 until half time but Vale missed several chances to
seal the game, Wellmans control let him down from a superb ball from Hennessy and Turner was somehow denied on the goal line.
After 51 Vale restored their 2 goal advantage moments after Roche had made a goal saving tackle in his own box, Hennessy
slipped the ball to Wellman who squeezed a nice finish into the far corner, Vale went onto to dominate the next half an hour
and added a fourth after 58 minutes after Wellmans cross was missed/dummied by Hennessy for Jamie Parker to complete a superb
hatrick by slamming the ball past the helpless keeper.
Into the last 10 minutes, Vale started to tire, mainly due to the flu virus that has hit the squad and some dropped
down a few gears due to the healthy position that they were in at 4-1, discipline was slightly lost and shape as we switched
to a back 3 and Leatherhead pulled a goal back to start a jittery period for us after 84 minutes and The Tanners missed a
great opportunity to go 4-3 that would have left us hanging on but those nerves were calmed in stoppage time after a solo
run from Thompson saw him release Hennessy who put a superb early shot into the top corner of the net for a fair 5-2 scoreline.
The only debate after the game was the manner in which we conceded the 2nd goal and almost a 3rd, lapses in concentration
and discipline such as these will be the difference in winning the league or finishing 3rd, at 4-1 in a cup tie we put ourselves
under needless pressure when the game was won.
There were thorough performances all over the pitch tonight with everyone excelling. Particular praise must go to the
back four of Roche, Turner, Hagan and Henery/Couch who were excellent throughout, Thompson who put in his usual sterling performance,
Junior Daramola who really stepped in to take his opportunity tonight.
Man
of the Match: Jamie Parker for his superb hatrick.
Raynes Park Vale Youth v Hayes & Yeading Youth
Monday 17th September
RPV Youth entertained a competitive Hayes & Yeading side at
Grand Drive
on Monday evening and gained their first win of the season with a well earned 3-0 win. After the disappointment of the 2-2
draw with Walton & Hersham, there were a few changes to the squad. Wright replaced Henery at Left back, Hagan replaced
Wiltshire in the centre of defence, Tuppen regained his place from Daramola and Hennessy replaced Rondeau to partner Tchonang
up front. Emmanuel Agyei was included for the first time on the bench.
Vales started brightly and were forcing the issue with Elliott
Thompson bossing the centre of the park almost single handily but on 10 minutes Liam Roche had to come to his sides rescue
by hurling himself in front of a goal bound shot. Vale were ahead on 19 minutes, Paul Hennessy was denied by the feet of the
Hayes keeper before Jamie Parkers follow up shot was cleared off the line. From the corner, Hennessy picked the ball up on
the far side before cutting into the box to cross the ball for Parker to steer the ball home from 8 yards. On 29 the lead
was doubled. Parker this time cut in from the left before reversing a sublime pass for Hennessy to run onto and finish neatly
first time. The game could and should have been sealed by half time but despite Thompson’s good looks being ruined with
a cut to his eyebrow, the first half was a very upbeat affair for Vale.
The second half was more evenly contested but Vale still played
some superb possession football. Wellman replaced Tchonang on 60, Agyei replaced Tuppen for his debut on 63 and Couch made
his long awaited return to action after a knee operation by replacing Wright on 69.
The scoring was completed by Jon Fagan with his first of the season
as he tapped home Thompson’s free kick that rebounded from the post.

Raynes Park Vale Youth v Walton & Hersham Youth
Wednesday 12th September
We travelled
to Walton & Hersham to leave with a 2-2 draw. It was arguably another game that should have been won even though I was
a little disappointed with the manner of our performance as it was way below that of the previous games. Frank Tchonang got
us off to a flyer, heading the ball into the top corner, again after a superb ball from Jon Fagan but then our performance
levels slipped off and our discipline was unacceptably poor. We lost defensive shape, became erratic in the centre of the
park and conceded an equaliser from a set piece. As the corner was swung in, 2 of our players were out muscled by W&H
players and the free man headed home. The 2nd half saw a response in terms of attitude from the boys and they teamed together.
Hennessy, who had replaced Roche at Half time, headed another looping header over their keeper from Parkers corner to restore
the lead with just 20 minutes left but again we showed poor match discipline by turning over possession too easily to grant
W&H another equaliser. Turner was caught in possession and the ball played wide, Hennessy & Wiltshire failed to stop
the cross and every one else was left flat footed in our 18 yd box as W&H tapped in a simple and possibly undeserved equaliser.
